Similes

July 6, 2011

A fun way to teach language is to introduce similes to your class. I read my students the book, Crazy Like a Fox: A Simile Story by Loreen Leedy to introduce the concept of similes. This is a great book with cute illustrations.

Then,  I gave each of my students a page with a simile and they illustrated the simile. I put all these together to make a book. My students loved to read their book in the reading center.

Click on the cover page to download. Enjoy!

  1. Hey Courtney –

I'm a new follower and would love to see your simile book but I'm getting a message about not having permission to open. Any suggestions?

If you want to integrate meaningful movement, download the song The Fliegerlied from iTunes – it's SO much fun! It's all about enjoying a beautiful day and feeling strong like a tiger, tall like a giraffe. Sure, it's in German, but they'll LOVE it!

  2. Hi Barbara! I fixed the permission so you should be able to download it now. Sorry about that! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look for that on iTunes.
