Freebies for You

I can't believe I only have a week left before I go back to school. Where did the summer go? Anyway, I've been working on school stuff some this weekend. So I have a couple of freebies for you.

My grade level sends home daily folders with the kids' behavior reports, all the papers from the office, homework, and all of that goodness. It was something new we started last year and I really liked it. It helped me stay organized and really kept the kids organized. So I've created a cover for my O.C.E.A.N binder and a behavior sheet to use with the clip chart system. The clip chart will be new for me this year so I hope this page works out. Click on the pictures to download from Google Docs.

I'm not sure how to make the text on a PDF editable so I posted a version without the student name and teacher name section.

My behavior sheet is also a PDF because it didn't look right when I exported it from Pages to Word.

I created my newsletter template too. I wish I could share it with you but I don't have a reselling license from Thistlegirl. I thought I'd share the picture anyway.

Just a reminder that I'm having a giveaway celebrating 100 followers. Click here to enter. You have until Tuesday at midnight. The giveaway will be on Wednesday. Good luck!

I'm also having a back to school sale at my TPT store and Teacher's Notebook store. My TPT store is 20% off plus an additional 10% if you enter the code B1T1S at checkout. My Teacher's Notebook store is 30% off. The sale lasts August 1st through August 5th. Happy shopping!

Pinterest Inspiration

My new obsession is Pinterest. I have found so many good ideas from other teachers on Pinterest. If you haven't joined yet, you should check it out. You need an invitation so let me know if you need one.  I've been working on creating the crate seats that I have been seeing everywhere.
Mrs. Nelson's First Grade

Fantastic in First

Last weekend, I made my seats. If you are going to make them, I suggest having a helper. It is hard to get the fabric tight while you are using the staple gun without some help. My mom was generous enough to help me out.

I took my crate seats to school today. I'm going to use them as extra seating on the carpet. My carpet isn't very big so this gives me a way to seat all the kids comfortably. My fabric isn't clear in the picture but it is blue and green circles. I think it fits nice with my ocean theme.

Guided Reading Labels

As I've been planning to start the Daily Five this school year, I've been working on how to organize the classroom library so students are able to know which books are on their level. I've been creating book bin labels for all kinds of themed books and series books. I plan on using these in one section of my library.
I think I'll put the series and themed books on the big bookshelf and the smaller bookshelf beside it.

In another section, I want to have books already divided into levels. This could be books that might not fit in a certain category or are a favorite of the kids. I'm planning on putting these on the bookshelf that is turned sideways. This is right beside their book boxes so it will be easy for them to browse.

I've created some labels for these boxes featuring the Guided reading levels. Here's a couple of pictures of the labels. They go from A to Z so teachers of all grade level can use them.

Feel free to download the Guided Reading labels I created.  They are free on Teacher's Notebook and TPT.  If you download, I would appreciate you rating the product or becoming a follower.

New Book Bin Labels

I've finally finished my second set of book bin labels for theme books. There are 73 labels total with 6 on each page. I think they turned out really good. You can find them on TPT and Teacher's Notebook.
Here's pictures of a couple pages.

Behavior Clip Chart

Isn't it so exciting to get things you ordered in the mail?  It's like Christmas! I ordered a couple things from Vistaprint a few weeks ago and finally got to see them today. I plan on doing the clip chart behavior system this year and I was going to make one out of poster board. My teammate Heather suggested making one out of a banner from Vistaprint. (Thanks Heather!)  I used the small banner and downloaded my picture to the site. I was so excited to get it today to see what it looks like and I was excited to see that it isn't very small at all.

It's a little curled up but I'm so happy with how it looks. I can't wait to see what it looks like in my classroom. If you would like to use my template, click on the picture below.
