Smart Cookies

I found the cutest bulletin board on Pinterest and just had to do it for the holidays. My friend, Heather at Swinging through Second Grade, and I worked together to create this adorable bulletin board for our school's hallway.

We had each of the kids create a gingerbread men and write a recipe for how to be smart. I love the way this turned out. Here are a couple of freebies below to help you create your own bulletin board.
Click here for the recipe card. Cut in half and give one to each student.

Click here for the gingerbread cookie words for the bulletin board.
FYI - The words are on legal sized paper and cookies is split in half. Just layer the two pieces on top of each other to look like one piece.

Is anyone else so exhausted this week? I can barely stay awake past 8:00. I'm so ready for Christmas break. The 22nd can't get here soon enough!

Check out this blog

Hey everyone! Hope you are having fun shopping today on Cyber Monday. I just wanted to give a heads up to first grade teachers who use Treasures. My friend, Heather, over at Swinging Through Second Grade, is creating resource packets for each story starting with Unit 4. Go visit her over at her blog. She's an amazing teacher and you'll love her creative ideas.

New Items and a Big Sale

I can't believe today is the last day of Thanksgiving vacation. Now we're on to 4 long weeks of school. We don't get out of school for Christmas until December 22nd. That seems crazy to me but I don't make the schedule.
Anyways, I've been working hard on several new items for my TPT store so they would be ready for the big Cyber Monday sale. Today has been a great day to work because it is pouring down rain and I don't feel like leaving the house. I'm just praying this rain stops tomorrow so we can have outside playtime.
My next Treasures unit for "Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type" is now available and will be on sale Monday and Tuesday. This is my absolute favorite story of the entire Treasures series and I am so excited about doing this story this year. Last year, my brother got married in California so I was out of school during this story. Click on the first picture to head to TPT to see the unit.

I've also been working to create phonics cards to place on my walls for my kids to reference when they are writing. The cards are a good size to be seen across the room without being too big. After I introduce a phonics pattern, I tape the cards to the wall near my alphabet. In my county, we use a program called CARE to teach phonics but these cards can be used by anyone. If you notice any cards that need to be added, let me know and I'll add them into the packet. Here are some images from the resource. There are a total of 86 cards.

I've also created a Punctuation Resource pack with posters of the punctuation marks, bubble maps, and games. Some of the games are from my Treasures packs but can be used by anyone. Click on the top image to view it in my TPT shop.

Don't forget that everything in my TPT store will be on sale on Monday and Tuesday. You can take an additional 10% with TPT's  special code - CMS28. I know I'll be doing some shopping tomorrow.

I'm Thankful for You

Sorry for the lack of posting lately! This time of year is so incredibly crazy. I just wanted to write a quick note to my blog followers to say how thankful I am that you take your time to read my blog. I had no idea when I started this blog if anyone would even be interested in anything I created. Now I have over 350 followers.
Here's a couple of crafts that we have done in the last few weeks. We made some pilgrims with the pattern from First Grade Blue Skies.
These two are my favorites. I love their hair. She includes hair patterns in the packet but I just had my kiddos make their own hair.

We also made some soldiers for our Veteran's day program using Deanna Jump's Veteran's day unit. I kept forgetting to take a picture after we made them. I think they are super cute!

At this rate, I'm going through google eyes like candy. Is anyone else as excited as me about starting Christmas crafts? I love making lots of cute things for Christmas.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

FYI - For those who have asked, my next Treasures unit should be ready by Friday. My goal was to finish it today but I'm not sure that's going to happen. I am also working on a Christmas unit.

I hope you have heard that TPT is having a big sale on Monday, November 28th for Cyber Monday. I have everything marked down 20% plus you can get an extra 10% from TPT by using the promo code CMS28.

Prefix and Suffix Freebies

I'm so excited today that my second observation is over that I decided to offer a freebie to my followers. I've had several people request the prefix and suffix posters that I included in my last Treasures unit so they are now for free on my TPT store. All I ask is that you are a follower of either my blog or my TPT store. Hope you enjoy!

New Blog Design

Sorry for the two posts in a day but I am just so excited about my new blog design. Isn't it adorable?
Thanks to Jenn and her husband at Dream Team Designs for my amazing new blog design! If you are in the market for a new blog design, definitely check them out. They have very reasonable prices and their products are amazing.  Let me know what you think.

Counting Down

I'm counting down until Tuesday is over. Why? My scheduled observation will be over and I will have so much less to do. I apologize for my absence this week. I've been working on my lesson plan for Tuesday. After changing it three times, I am finally satisfied with what I'm doing. I'm not sure if any other states are having to do what we are in Tennessee but it's crazy. Lots and lots of paperwork! I've been spending so much time on my lesson plans this year that I barely have time to do anything else. Each day is usually 5 pages long. It's a little crazy but it has to be detailed for the unannounced visits.
I finally had  a few moments today to finish my new Treasures unit for "Meet the Super Croc." Here a few images from the unit. It's available on TPT and Teacher's Notebook.

Click on the images below to see the unit.

I did take a break on Friday to go see Lady Antebellum in concert. They were amazing.

Sorry for the blurry cell phone photo! Cameras weren't allowed.

I hope to have some freebies this week so be sure to check back. My life will calm down a bit this week.

Officer Buckle and Gloria

My next Treasures unit for "Officer Buckle and Gloria" is now available. This is definitely one of my favorite stories in the Treasures series and the kids love it too. Here are some images of what is available. You can check it out on Teacher's Pay Teachers or Teacher's Notebook.

Have a wonderful weekend! I'll be working on my lesson plan for my next evaluation. Ugh!
