I’ve Been Tagged and New Morning Work

I’ve been tagged 5 times this week and I’ve been so busy that I am just now getting to participate. I know that the rules are to share 12 things about yourself and then answer the 12 questions. I think by answering all of the questions below that I will be telling you everything about me so I’m skipping the 12 things about myself part.

What is your go to recipe when you have a long day at work?  ummm, frozen food..I don’t cook much
If you weren’t a teacher what profession would you like to have? interior decorator
What are some of your favorite graphics you use when creating your units? too many to count! I love Scrappin Doodles, KPM Doodles, and Digital Bake Shop.
What is your favorite city in the United States that you have visited? I love Destin, Charleston, and Savannah.
What is your favorite song? My all-time favorite song is Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by John Mayer.
Do you play an instrument? I used to play the piano but I haven’t in a long time.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? anything with chocolate
What is your favorite spring activity? Either at home or school — I love baseball!
Would you rather have a new handbag or a new pair of shoes? new purse
What is your favorite fruit? grapes
What is your favorite science/social studies unit to teach? I have a new favorite. I loved teaching about polar bears a couple of weeks ago.
What is something you use in your classroom on a daily basis? my Activboard! couldn’t teach without it

1. How long have you been teaching? this is my 7th year

2. What grades/levels/subjects have you taught?  I’ve taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade
3. What do you do when you have time off? I love to go to the movies and spend time with my family.
4. If you could change one thing about your teaching, what would it be? I would be able to fit everything in and I would be more organized.
5. What is your strength? (teaching)  using technology
6. If you could be a superhero, which one would you be? umm, I’m not really sure
7. What are three words that describe your class? interesting, crafty, challenging
8. How late do you stay at school?  I get to school by 6:30 and usually end up staying to 5:00. My goal is to leave by 4:00 but that never happens.
9. How fast can you type? pretty fast I’ve been told
10. What are your goals for this year? (personal or professional) to survive until May (see # 7)
11. If you could have anything you wanted for your classroom, what would it be? more computers, a larger rug, and all the books that I need
12. What are some signals you use in your classroom? a use a bell to signal changes

  1. What was the name of your first pet? Rosie, my first dog
  2. What was your best moment as a teacher?
  3. Where is your favorite place to buy clipart? too many to count! I love Scrappin Doodles, KPM Doodles, and Digital Bake Shop.
  4. What is your biggest pet peeve? trash all over the floor and incorrect grammar
  5. What kind of car do you drive? Mazda 3
  6. What is your favorite food? I love Mexican food and Italian food.
  7. What food do you HATE? anything mushy– bananas, pudding, yogurt, oatmeal..YUCK!
  8. What is your favorite winter activity? do snow days count?
  9. Have you ever completed a 1,00 piece puzzle? yes, but it’s been a long time ago.
  10. Where is your favorite place to buy clothes? I love Target, Kohls, and Marshalls.
  11. E-reader or real books? Real books. I just got a Kindle so we’ll see!
  12. Mac or PC? Mac all the way..I can’t even remember how to use a PC.

1)  What blog do you most look forward to new posts from? Kristin at Teeny Tiny Teacher because she is hilarious and Amy at Step into Second Grade with Mrs. Lemons
2)  What is your favorite teaching topic/unit? I love teaching units!
3)  What is the 1st thing you do once all your students are gone? breathe and pick up pencils in the floor (see #4 above)
4)  What one thing would you buy for your class if money weren’t an issue? a huge rug for my library and more computers
5)  What is the best thing about your classroom? my Activboard
6)  What is your favorite movie? most recently, “The Help”
7)  If you had to choose one book to REread, what would it be? The Pillars of the Earth (amazing!)
8)  What are your favorite shoes, for school? my 2 pairs of Skechers
9)  What is your “go to” school lunch? I usually bring leftovers.
10)  What is your best childhood memory? eating ice cream with my cousins in front of my mammaw’s TV
11)  How did you come up with the name for your blog? My classroom theme is the ocean so it seemed fitting.
12)  What is your favorite canceled tv show? I loved “Pushing Daisies.”

1.  If you couldn’t be a teacher anymore (for whatever reason), what job would you have? I would be an interior decorator.
2.  If you could go back to any decade/era in history, when would it be?  Why? the 1920s because I love the clothes
3. What is your favorite book? “The Pillars of the Earth”
4.  What is your favorite type of candy? Reeses
5.  If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?  Why? I would love to go to Australia because it looks so beautiful.
6.  If you had the chance, would you go to space? probably not, I don’t really like to fly.
7.  Are you an early bird or a night owl? early bird
8.  What is your favorite holiday? Christmas
9.  What was your favorite toy as a child? I had a doll named Kansas that I named after one of the triplets that lived next door. I carried her everywhere and I still have her on my bookshelf in my office.
10.  Black Friday – get up at the crack of dawn, shop from home, or avoid it all together? avoid it completely..I don’t need anything that bad.
11.  Do you collect anything? no
12.  Do you clip coupons? sometimes but I usually forget to use them or even take them to the store.

    2. I have a very interesting year as well and can't wait until May either but my year is interesting because of a certain parent who criticizes every little thing I do rather than my class.

    1. Thanks Lisa! That's a toughie too. I'm having some of those issues as well. We have a countdown going on and it's only 28 days till Spring break. Needless to say, I can't wait! Oh, and I'm glad that you can use my morning work packets.
