I found this great new book at my local library and just had to share. It’s called “Shark vs. Train” by Chris Barton.
In this book, a shark and a train go against each other in various challenges. All the kids loved this book, especially the boys. They have asked me to read it everyday. Last week, I was teaching judgments so I had the kids design their own challenges for the shark and the train. Then, they had to write who would win and justify their judgment. This is the first and only time that we have taught judgments this year but, basically, it’s just an opinion with a reason. My kiddos came up with some good challenges. I totally forgot to take pictures but I will try to remember tomorrow. My favorite was a thumb wrestling contest that neither the shark or train would win because they don’t have thumbs. Too cute!
This sounds like a fun book!

It's so funny you blogged about this book. My son checked it out from the library last week and has read it to me on the way to school every day!

Thanks for sharing! This is perfect for those last few weeks of Treasures where all we do is make inferences/draw conclusions/make judgements! π

Thanks for sharing that book. It looks great, and I love the writing activity! I will have to break these out sometime the next two weeks when things are getting crazy! It should hold their attention!
Just came across your blog from the Summer Bucket List linky party, and I love it!
