Today was the first day of our unit on time. I love teaching about time even though it can be hard for some of the kiddos to grasp the concept. To help them better understand how time works, I made a large clock on my math bulletin board with a hula hoop. I found a similar idea on Pinterest and adapted it to fit into my classroom.
This was taken before my lesson today. During the lesson today, we went over what each number on the clock stands for when we are counting by fives. I had the kids come up and put the numbers outside of the hula hoop. I did these numbers on a different color so the kids would have an easier time telling the difference.
You can grab a copy of the numbers and the clock hands here.
I also had the kiddos make their own clock using Amy Lemon’s time unit. I love this unit! They had so much fun making a clock.
I don’t know about you but my kids always have trouble telling what hour it is when the hour hand is between the two numbers. I really stressed that today and we will keep practicing that skill for sure.
Here’s for the cuteness:
We’ve been working on reality and fantasy so we read Russell the Sheep. I love this book. So adorable! We made a chart to sort between reality and fantasy with this book.
We’ve also been working on adjectives the past few weeks.
I used Lesson Plan SOS’ activity “Awesome Adjectives that Describe Me.” These always turn out so good! We also practiced on how to properly draw faces.
These cute little bunnies from from A Cupcake for the Teacher are absolutely adorable and so easy to make. One of my kiddos even said that this was the easiest craft that we ever made. Haha! I guess I’m usually more complicated but I love how easy this one was.
I hope you are having a great day! I have morning bus duty this week and it is my last time for the year. So pumped about that! And I just so happened to get a four day week this time.
Coming next week….
Get your posts ready! I can’t wait to see what you do in your classroom!
