I'm Ashamed to Admit It

I have a big confession. This is what my extra bedroom looks like during the summer.

I brought tons of stuff home for school this summer. More than usual because I was waiting to hear if I had to move classrooms. So this is the big mess that I am dealing with in that room. I try to walk by it quickly so I don't have to look at it. I was planning on organizing my office this summer but it's kinda impossible with all this stuff in the way. Plus I keep buying more things for my classroom. See those stacked baskets -- a purchase from Really Good Stuff when they were on sale. See all those binders -- I'm trying to organize some of my things by months and subjects.

Tomorrow I am officially moving classrooms. So I am heading back to school and I can't decide if I should take some of this stuff and contribute to my mess at school or just move it later.  Please tell me I'm not the only one who has a mess like this during the summer.

Here's what I've been working on today. I saw the teacher toolbox on Pinterest from Create Teach Share.  I made a version for my new classroom theme. That's right..I'm switching to owls.

I just love those little owl stickers. I found them at Hobby Lobby in the scrapbook section. I'm not exactly sure what I am going to put in all the drawers so I haven't added labels yet.

Hope you enjoyed the first day of summer!

  2. I love your owl theme! Hobby Lobby had a few cute owls too ... just in case you're interested.
I have a gigantic mess in my home as well. This is the only year I've had to deal with the mess. Our school is under construction and since I'm moving from Title 1 to 2nd grade I've taken a lot home and I'm also purchasing/creating things as well.

    1. 8 of the drawers are fairly large. The other 14 are not that big but are pretty deep. Good for clips and pins. Hope that helps!

  4. I also have an owl themed classroom and I think you tool box looks great! I was thinking about getting one myself but have yet to get to Lowe's or Home Depot. School ended for me last Thursday and I have yet to tackle anything in my room. I teach a 2nd and 3rd grade loop and have two of everything!!!! I am also famous for piling!! You are not alone. :) I have been checking out Jodi's Clutter Free Classroom resources for some inspiration. Wish me luck!

  5. Love your drawer organizer! :)
My home office looks the same! I brought home a bunch of resources to create/plan this summer, and we are in the process of building a house, so we're also purging and have piles to shred, donate, and throw away in the middle of it all too! :) Good luck moving rooms!

  7. I think every teacher has a spot in their house that looks like that! We always have such good intentions to get things done during the summer so we bring soooo much home and then end up carting it back at the beginning of the year!

  16. We all have those piles! You were just brave enough to post pictures! I have an office upstairs now because my son is getting married and my youngest took over his room downstairs. Now, the task of moving all my 'stuff' upstairs and organizing and purging!
