  1. Label everything. Labels make it so easy for you, your assistant (if you have one), your students, or a sub to find things. Plus it makes your room look nice!

  2. First of all I love this giveaway and I love organization! One tip that has helped me is keeping all my activities in files or binders. I have a binder for everything! It helps because I always know where to find what I am looking for. One thing I also try to do is make sure everything has a home. If I know where everything belongs I always know where to put it back!

    Thanks for these great giveaways!

  3. Make sure you have a certain place for keeping all handouts and papers for the day! In my student teaching placement, my cooperating teacher would frequently misplace things since she put papers everywhere! For my first year in the classroom, I bought paper trays to label and organize papers!

  4. I love this giveaway! I tend to struggle with organization, so I always make sure to have a specific spot for everything, especially papers! I also make sure that I have everything in order on my desk and ready for the next day before I leave the classroom.

  5. Speaking as a UNORGANIZED person, the thing that helps me most is to use strategies that mean something to YOU. I have had colleagues or friends suggest ideas and try to help me with their ideas, but they don't help ME. Yes I use baskets and bins and labels, but I have to use them my way…
Your labels are awesome and I would LOVE to put them on my baskets!

  6. I like to keep things labeled clearly, my teacher binder has sections that I can refer to information quickly, and organize materials in my baskets/bins. I frequently change things up if I see things aren't working how I'd like them to.

  7. Do not put off getting organized. The more you put it off, the harder it will become. Get a plan and stick with it 🙂

  8. My best way to stay organized is to start off that way… I have a habit of just putting things down and walking away and then forgetting where it is so I have to keep on myself to make sure that everything gets put in the correct place the first time!! I also have to make sure that everything has a place to go!!

  9. I always make sure my desk is clear before I leave everyday by putting all the things on it back in there homes.

  10. Put things back!! I always have the best intentions and make nice files at the beginning of the year but that can go by the way side so easily when school begins. To make sure I have 1 place to put master copies or extra things that need to be filed away I started keeping a "To File" folder on my desk. Now it's all in one place (and not in multiple messy piles on my desk) and I can file it when I have time 🙂

  11. Put everything in the right place immediately. DO NOT let things pile up because you'll never remember what is in there and miss something important!

  12. Have a place for all of your student resources that they are able to get! Keep glue, crayons, and markers accessible to students! This will make it to where you don't have to be the one to get everything, they can be responsible for getting the materials they need!

  13. My best tip for organization is:

Have a data binder! This binder keeps all of your student data, grade book spreadsheets (who needs to buy an expensive gradebook?), fluency/comprehension data, and all other information! This binder is one that I carry with me to all meetings, parent conferences, and data chats with my principal. . .

  14. Make a list of what I have to do on my phone. I also keep user names and passwords in my contact list on my iPhone. Easy to carry around and I never forget user names and passwords. Also it is easy to change because we have to change passwords for attendance and email every 180 days (which never falls at the end of the school year. LOL)

  15. My best tip would be to file your student work immediately! I have learned from experience that you will never get to it if you don't do it as soon as the papers are graded. I have literally had stacks of papers to file and I don't ever want to be in that place again.

  16. My best organizational tips is when you have a complete wall of built-in cabinets, make labels to put on those cabinet doors! Otherwise, it's way too easy to forget where everything is. 🙂

  17. My best organizational tip is have a place for everything in your class and then put it back after you use it.

  18. My best organizational tip would be to never leave your desk messy when you leave home for the day! I know it may be a little more time consuming but it is totally worth it! File whatever you have to that day and throw away any useless papers. This habit has kept me organized all year long and has also set a great example for my students! 🙂

  19. For each unit of my reading series (Treasures) I have a Rubbermade tub with all TPT units I have bought that go with skills in that unit. Easy peasy to pull out what I need for the new round of centers this way.

  20. I have found finding a place for everything and everything in its place isn't just lip service, my mass organization/purge the places that I have taken the time to do this, has made all the difference….Thanks for the chance as these are on my to buy list!

  21. My best tip is writing down what you think of needing to do RIGHT when you think of it! I used to be awful about not remembering what I thought of during that meeting, at home while cooking dinner, etc…I started texting myself if I didn't have paper and then putting it on my to-do list!

  22. Consistency! If you have a place for something put it there when you are done!! Don't put it on your desk in hopes of it getting to the right place later!

  23. mark before i leave for the day! i always work through my lunch, recess and preps to get that done – then i have more time for my own kiddies at home. i use my home time for preparing/planning- saves my back from taking home loaded down bags, too!

  24. I think it helps you to be organized when you get the kiddo's in on it too. If you have expectations for how your room is supposed to look they will follow those expectations. I also think it helps to review your files once a summer. It helps to reduce the clutter and start fresh each year. But of course, as a previous poster said, you need to find what works for you! 🙂

  25. Label everything!!! With cute labels, of course! Have the kids help clean up before they leave!

  26. Don't let the kids keep their notebooks and folders in their desk! I keep everything in bins on a shelf and everything is color coded. Then nothing is ever lost and can't easily be put in the wrong place!

  27. Use one large binder for yourself for EVERYTHING. You know where everything is and you don't have to spend hours searching for something! :o)

  28. Label, label, label!
Also, a place for everything AND everything in its place!
Take at least 5 minutes at the end of each day to put things away.
"Employ" the students to help clean up regularly so you have less to do yourself.

  29. I think a helpful tip is to have a specific subject to plan for each day of the week for the following week. So on Mondays, plan for Math, etc.It keeps things manageable! 🙂

  30. For me organizing goes further than the class. For class its the curriculum first, lesson plans at a minimum of a week ahead with a list of everything needed. Have what you need for the week put in easily accessible areas, something you might have to do each Friday or over the weekend. A list of events coming up and a reminder a day or two before hand! But none of this will work unless you also organize yourself outside the home. All will fall through if you don't keep organized and learn to say NO when your planner is full. Make sure your organizing has room for what needs to be done at home, errands, work at home, and socializing.. or just time off for yourself.

  31. I color code everthing by subjst… math is always blue, reading is read, etc. I am an avid labeler and everything, I mean EVERYTHING has a place in my classroom and the kids know where it goes.
