Place Value Freebies

October 7, 2012

My class has been working on place value for the last few weeks. It’s a really long unit in our math series but I’m okay with that because there is so much that you can do with it.

I’ve started implementing math groups so I can meet the needs of all my students. It’s also been helpful because I can see exactly where they are making mistakes on a daily basis.

I have some freebies for you that I’ve been using with my math groups.

This first page is great for a pretest on place value.

We have also been working on number words. This is always really hard for my second graders because they don’t want to take the time to learn how to spell the words correctly.

I really like using dice in math because the kids will think any activity is a game.  For this next page, I gave each child one die and they rolled it to come up with the tens digit and ones digit of their number. Then, they used that number to say what comes before, what comes after, and what is the number between.

As with anything I create and place on Google Drive, there is no need to click on “Share.” I have already shared it with you. Click on “File” and go down to “Download.” This will allow you to download the file for yourself.

Hope you are having a good Sunday!
