Winter Wonderland Centers

I finished my newest center pack just in time for the big TPT sale on Monday and Tuesday. I had some requests for centers that didn't include Christmas so I made a winter pack of centers. I plan on doing my Full of Cheer centers in December and doing these centers my Winter Wonderland centers in January. Click on any of the pictures to head to my TPT store.

These will be on sale during the huge TPT sale on Monday and Tuesday.

Thanks to Becca Foxwell for this cute button!

You can find a few more of my recent units on sale. I've included some images below for you.

I have the Sunday blues today. I do not want to head back to school tomorrow so I can spend the day shopping for Cyber Monday.

Have a wonderful night friends!

Snowmen at Christmas plus Sales

Hello everyone! I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving! I had a great one myself. It was good to see all my family. Most of us all live in the same area but it's hard to get everyone together. We played lots of games and ate too much.

I've been working hard on a new product so it's ready for the TPT sale on Monday and Tuesday. I love the book "Snowmen at Christmas" by Caralyn Buehner.

Here's what the pack contains and some images from the unit:

You can find this unit in my TPT store by clicking on any of the images above.

I hope you are prepping for the big TPT sale on Monday and Tuesday. Everything in my shop will be 20% off so you can save up to 28% with the promo code CMT12.

Full of Cheer literacy centers

Thanksgiving is almost here! I am so excited because we only have a 2 day work week. How many days are you at school? I'm jealous of all of you that have the entire week off but 3 days is better than nothing.

I love Christmas time at school..all the crafts, books, and excitement. I've finally finished some Christmas centers that I plan on using as soon as I go back after Thanksgiving. Here are some of the images from the unit. You can click on any of these images to view this pack at TPT.

Let me know what you think. I'll choose 2 people who leave comments to receive this pack for free. I'll choose the winners on Monday night.

Don't forget to leave your email!

Two Vowels Go Walking

Well, Thanksgiving is almost here and I am completely wiped out. I can't seem to remember to take pictures at school so I thought I would share one of my favorite videos with you.

I love Between the Lions. It's such a cute show and the kids learn at the same time. We have been working on vowel pairs for the last few weeks and this video is so perfect. I love to hear my kids sing this song each morning and they always want to sing it more than once.

I have embedded it here from Youtube but I can't use this version in my classroom.

Here's how you find it on PBS. Go to pbskids.org/lions

Click on Video Clips.

You will see it listed on the videos there. All these videos are great but this one is my favorite! I hope you can use it in your classroom!

DonorsChoose Wants to Help

I was contacted by Anna at DonorsChoose.org yesterday to help them get the word out to teachers who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.  They really want to help out teachers who may have lost supplies and materials at school. If you haven't used DonorsChoose before, it's super easy and you can request whatever you are needing. I've had several projects funded through them but nothing as crucial as what teachers in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy are needing.

Below you will find the directions from Anna at DonorsChoose.org:

Register on www.donorschoose.org/teachers, shop for classroom supplies you need, and write a short description of how those supplies will help your students. Then, donors will fund your requests, and DonorsChoose.org will ship supplies directly to your classroom.

Here are examples of supplies you can request:

·         School supplies, like paper, pencils, books, calculators, microscopes
·         Snacks for your students, like granola bars, water, and juice
·         Clothing for your students, like socks and t-shirts
·         Safety equipment, like first aid kits and flashlights
·         Classroom furniture, like portable heaters, desks, chairs, rugs, bookshelves

It will take you about 30 minutes to create a request at DonorsChoose.org. Get started at www.donorschoose.org/teachers, and click “Get Started”. Make sure to mention how your classroom was impacted by Hurricane Sandy. If you have a photo of your school or classroom after the storm, please upload it.

All public school teachers are eligible to use DonorsChoose.org. For more information on eligibility, read this FAQ in the DonorsChoose.org Help Center.

If you haven't been affected by Hurricane Sandy, you can also create a project for your classroom using the instructions above.

At the end of the week, DonorsChoose is going to ask donors to help out teachers affected by Hurricane Sandy. You can help during this too. Any and all monetary donations will help teachers and students heal from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy.  I'll provide more information on this later on in the week.

Thanks for all your consideration! If you post a project for your classroom that was affected by Hurricane Sandy, please leave me a comment below with a link to your project. I will promote it to help you get it funded.

Troubleshooting Tuesday and Thanksgiving banner

Do you have a student who just won't stop talking? I have one myself and it's incredibly hard to teach when she is interrupting and constantly talking. I really liked the idea of Blurt charts but I didn't need one for my entire class. So I made an individual one that goes on the student's desk.

Here it is on my student's desk. She loses an owl each time that she interrupts or shouts out. At this point, she has 6 chances during the day to raise her hand.  If she gets past 6 times where she doesn't raise her hand, she loses playtime. Next week, I am going to move her back to 5 owls and so on. At this point, I wanted her to be successful so I am giving her plenty of chances.

You could also do it in a different way where they lose 5 minutes of playtime for each owl that they lose.

The owls are attached by Velcro. When she loses an owl, I may ask her to take one away or I will just walk by and take it. So they don't get lost each day, they go in a Ziploc bag taped to her desk. She puts them back on her chart the next morning.

I have this chart with the owls as a freebie for you. I have also included stars for those of you who don't use owls.

In other news, I have made a cute decoration you can use for Thanksgiving at school or at home.

This is the decoration on a bulletin board at school.

You can see some images of the unit below.

Click on any image to view the pack in my TPT store.

The first blog follower who guesses my favorite Thanksgiving food and leaves a comment on my blog will get this pack for free. Good luck!

Full of Thanks (centers and activities)

Hello everyone! It's so hard to believe that it's November but I am incredibly thankful that Halloween is over. Last week was crazy!
I've been working on some Thanksgiving centers and activities that I thought I would have finished last week. Well, I kind of got on a roll and kept adding things to the pack. It's now 158 pages long with 10 centers (color plus black & white), activities for 2 books, 3 crafts, and activities to help you teach about the Pilgrims and the Mayflower.

You can find some images from the unit below.

I've changed the name of my unit because it was the same as Amy Lemons' wonderful unit. So sorry about any confusion that this may have caused!

I have a freebie for you from the unit. I made some cards for you to give to your class and some cards for you to hand out to other teachers, parents,  aides, custodians, and other school support staff. I don't think we tell them often enough how thankful we are for their help.

Click on the images to download. Please click download when you get to Google Drive to grab a copy.

Since I am so thankful for my blog followers, I have this 158 page unit on sale until tomorrow night. It's normally $8 but I have it marked down to $6.

You can view the unit by clicking on the link below or by clicking on any of the images from the unit.

For those of you who made it to the end of my post, I will give away this pack for free to the first two people to comment on my blog.  Don't forget to leave your email!
