Magical Product Swap

January 13, 2013

It’s time for The Magical Product Swap. My swap partner was Jennifer Ross from The Teacher’s Cauldron.

I chose to review her Subtraction Sleuths unit. It was perfect for this week because our math unit is a  review of subtracting double digit numbers with regrouping. We spent most of the beginning of the week doing addition and started subtraction on Friday.

My students loved doing the “Read the Room” activity. I posted some regrouping problems around the room. The students walked around the room with their recording sheets and solved the problems. This was a great activity because it became really apparent as to who forgot how to regroup over Christmas break.
I plan on doing most of the other activities this coming week. I have them all copied and ready to go. The “True or False” activity will be great as a math center.  I think I will do the “Flip It” activity as a partner game either with me or in a center.
Go check out Jen’s great pack at TPT by clicking on the preview above. It’s perfect for all you 2nd grade teachers!
In other news, I have just posted a new pack. It’s for my higher reading group to use with “Who Was Abraham Lincoln?” by Janet B. Pascal.
I love these biographies. This one is on a third grade level. My pack has comprehension questions for each chapter plus 9 extension activities.

For my blog followers, I have an anticipation guide and questions from the first chapter for you to use. Click on the image below to download it.
Have a great Sunday!

  1. Hey Courtney! Thanks for reviewing the math pack. I'm doing subtraction right now and want to jazz it up a little. I also just bought my first Who Was books. Are they all good? I am creating something to go with the Obama one, but I will buy more if you think they are good for higher second graders. Thanks!
