Visual Plans (October 21)

October 20, 2013

I’m popping in quickly on my last day of fall break to share my visual plans for this week with you. These plans are kinda minimal because I could spend all day on my visual plans but I decided that I’d rather enjoy my last day of fall break.

This week, we are working on cause and effect in reading. I absolutely love teaching cause and effect because there is so much that you can do with it.  (By the way, you should check out Readworks. They have free units with ideas for teaching many comprehension skills.)

Math is another story this week. I do not enjoy teaching money. I don’t know who decided that children should first be introduced to money in 2nd grade but I’m not a fan. I’m relying on my bloggy friends to get me through teaching about money by using their amazing ideas.

Our unit this week is sound and I just haven’t found anything great to use to teach it. I doubt that I will have much time for unit anyway because teaching money always takes so long.
Some books that I am reading this week are:

As always, click on any of my visual plan images to download. After you download, all the images on the PDF will lead you to the correct links.
I hope you have a great week friends! I’m still relishing the win by my Vols yesterday! It’s awesome to finally win a big game again.
I also wanted to share with you how awesome my mom is. She tore out all my student’s math pages for me because our district buys us these big books that must be torn out.
This is not even all the pages that she tore out. I have 2 crates of these. So thankful for her!
I also made my first wreath over fall break. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Once I got the technique down, it was pretty easy.
Have a great Sunday!

  1. I'm with you on teaching money. I was very happy to be finished with that unit. I use envision also. In my opinion envision goes through money too fast and I have to supplement a lot! I also think k it is crazy that someone determined that students shouldn't be taught money til 2nd grade. Also, I'm a Vols fan! GBO!!!!
