GeoModel Folding Shapes Review + Giveaway

July 18, 2014

I was recently contacted by EAI Education to see if I would be willing
to try out one of their new products in my classroom. If you know about
EAI Education, you know that they have lots of great math resources. I
chose to review the GeoModel Everyday Folding Shapes after I read the
description.

Below is the box that arrived in the mail. I was impressed with the box’s design and I was even more impressed when I opened it.

Inside, I found heavy plastic shapes that open on one side. I also found a book with some activities that can be copied by the teacher. There are also 25 task cards that you can use as riddles and to pose questions to students.

There was also a bag of colorful cutouts that go inside the plastic shapes and represent common 3D shapes that kids will see. I played around with a few of them. These colorful pieces that go inside the clear plastic shapes are surprisingly sturdy. They are really thick plastic, almost like they are laminated, and seem like they will hold up well in your students’ hands. There are at least 3 different colored pieces to go inside the shapes and a few shapes have many more.

The little toaster oven is my favorite!

I know my students will really enjoy using these 3D shapes in geometry. I love when you can bring real life and math together in a way that makes it easier for students to understand.
Best of all, EAI is allowing me to give away one of these sets. You can enter in the Rafflecopter below.
Also, they are offering free shipping for my followers, you can use STSFS2014 for free shipping on orders of $30+. (There are a few exceptions to the free shipping that you can read here.) The promo code is good till November 15th.

Disclaimer: EAI provided me with a free copy of this set for my review. All opinions are my own in relation to my experience with the product.

  1. I put these geoshapes on my school wishlist! As a former middle school math teacher, I love them! So, I guess this is the same item I would preview. I love EAI and have purchased from them for years. They really do have the best selection.

  2. These blocks are perfect for teaching about geometry. Love the task cards and that they show students where they see the shapes in real life. So perfect.

    1. Oh, and I am just starting my second grade class so I probably would have chosen these or one of their fantastic place value activities since I teach that first in the year. =]

  3. I like the choice you made for review – so hard to get first graders to see 3D shapes in relation to their own environment. Love how they designed this. I also really like the look of their Floor Mat game. I think it's great to make math a full body activity. 🙂

  4. I like the GeoModel Everyday Folding Shapes. I would like to also review the Dive into Shapes! A "Sea" and Build Geometry Set so my students could build and construct new 2-D and 3-D shapes.
