You Asked For It, So Here It Is

July 25, 2014
This past year, my district got a new reading series, Reading Street. As you know, a new adoption is always so stressful because you are kinda throwing things together all year long. So this year, with one year of it under my belt, I feel more confident in using it and supplementing it when I need to.
I’ve had many people email me and ask me when I am going to start creating things for Reading Street. Well, I really wasn’t going to make separate packs for one reading series but I realized that I needed something to keep me more on track. I felt my reading lessons were all kinds of disjointed this past year. So, I created a few packs that go along with the reading series but use other resources as well. You aren’t going to find many activities with spelling words or the main selection in these packs. I have included 2 mini-lessons in each pack that supplement the comprehension skill and are easy to implement. I think these are really going to save me when evaluations start happening and I’m stressed to the max.
My favorite part of the new packs are the songs that I created to teach the grammar skills. I’ve had a blast writing them and I hope you enjoy them too!

  1. Last year was our district's first year as well. I agree that you feel disjointed with all the new skills and strategies to learn and teach. Your bundle would make my life so much easier!!! I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win! Thank you!!

  2. Your stuff always looks great! As a veteran teacher (24 yrs) but new to 2nd grade I'd love to win anything from you! One question I do have is what do you use to create all your stuff? I'd love to create my own materials but am afraid they won't look as professional as what I see on TpT.

  5. Our whole district just adopted Reading Street last year as well. I had the same thoughts about my reading lessons being more disjointed. I would LOVE To have this bundle!!!!! I love your tpt stuff and blog! aburch@amphi.com

  6. Fantastic! I really love all of the materials included in this bundle. Even though I do not use Reading Street, I could use posters and songs to teach the skills in my classroom. I also like the mini-lessons and activities that go with other books. Great work!

  7. I love your idea of using music to help the kids learn the phonics skills. I really like your ideas and have already purchased so many of them. I have been following your blog since choosing to move to 2nd grade after 22 years in Kinder and First. Crazy or not I needed new ideas and yours are amazing. Thank you for sharing your talents! clubmoore5@sbcglobal.net

  8. Didn't make the drawing but will for sure look at the bundle. I am always looking for more grammar practice. This looks really good. Thanks for creating work for teachers like me who are not so creative.

  9. Seeing your bundle has me bummed that our district didn't have enough votes to receive the Reading Street. We're working with Journeys this year. I enjoyed the stories in the Reading Street last year when we were "checking them out". I was one of those weird teachers who really wanted to get a feel for the difference between the two textbooks. My kids were more engaged with the Reading Street. You're bundle is awesome and I have it wishlisted because I can always supplement parts of it into Journeys! Thank you! 🙂
