Back to School with Books

August 3, 2014
It’s back to school time for me tomorrow. We have a week of inservice and staff development before the kids come for a half day next Monday. I’ve seen on Facebook how lucky I am that my district gives us an entire week to get ready for the kids.
If you’ve read my earlier posts, you know that I have been trying to get myself organized these past few weeks. I feel like I’ve made some good progress in my classroom. I’ve also been working to get my first week planned and ready. I hate scrambling around trying to get ready for those first few days of school like I usually am.
One resource that I love using is my “Back to School with Books” unit.

We’ve had so much fun with this in my classroom. My kiddos love reading the books and doing the crafts. When we did our top 10 list of things we did in 2nd grade at the end of the year last year, my students listed these activities from the first week of school. I had forgotten all the fun we had but they sure remembered starting off the school year with fun learning activities.
Look how cute our Splats turned out! These made a great bulletin board for the start of the year.

I totally forgot to take pictures of the other activities. You know how it is during the first week of school. I’m hoping to get some pictures this year.

I’ve gotten some wonderful feedback on this pack. Thanks so much for the love!

If you are interested in this pack, be sure to check it out during the sale tomorrow and Tuesday. It will be 20% off and you can save more money with the promo code from TPT.
