K is for Kahoot! (ABCs of 2nd grade)

July 8, 2014
Okay, you got me, K is a tough letter. I couldn’t think of anything for K and then I remembered a website that I had bookmarked. So I’ve played around with it and it is awesome!
What is Kahoot! Here’s an image from their website.

After playing around with it, it reminds me of something like an ActivExpression. You can create quizzes or surveys for students and they can answer it on their mobile devices. Best of all, it’s totally free! Go to getakahoot.com and sign up for a free account.
After I signed up, I took a sample online quiz by going to the website that they gave on my iPad. Then I entered the game pin to join the game.

The question pops up on the computer screen and then you answer it on your device. This is what the screen looks like on your device.
After you answer, it shows up on the screen on the computer like below.

After I played around with that one, I made a survey of my own. If you would like to take it, go to http://goo.gl/SwFkei
You might have to be a member before you can take my survey. I would love to see your answers. It’s only five questions. You can see them below.

I look forward to playing around with it some more this summer. Have you used Kahoot! before? Leave a comment with your great ideas for using it.

Check out my next post on my favorite part of my classroom, the library.

  1. Wow – this site is great. Thanks for sharing it! I think I would use it at the beginning or ending of a unit to see what the students already know and then what they have learned. Students would love to do it! Do you know if this can be used with laptops? It said any web device so I am guessing it may work. Our school doesn't have any devices like ipads but we do have laptop carts.
