Jump into June (book list)

May 30, 2018

Celebrate June by reading new books that go along with special days in June. I’ve included a holiday or national observance on the calendar and a book that corresponds with the day.

June 1- National Doughnut Day

One of my favorite book characters is Arnie the Doughnut. Arnie is a lovable character who doesn’t understand that he was made to be eaten. Introduce your child or students to Arnie using the picture book. There are also several chapter books that carry on Arnie’s story. Celebrate National Doughnut day by grabbing a free doughnut. (Here’s a list of participating places.)

If you are feeling extra festive, check out my Arnie craft and writing lesson in my TPT store. (Click on the image to view.)

I also have a free character traits lesson in my store featuring Arnie. (Click on the image to view.)

June 2 – National Trails Day

The Oregon Trail is one of the most famous trails in history. Explore the history of the Oregon Trail through the book, “If You Were a Kid on the Oregon Trail.”

Play the classic game, Oregon Trail, online for free. Click here to play.

I’ll be back later on this week with next week’s choices. You can download the full month with clickable links below.
